University statement regarding operations during Hurricane Ian

Classes and all academic and student-related activities, including online classes, at the University of Florida campus in Gainesville will be canceled Wednesday, Sept. 28 through Friday, Sept. 30. An announcement regarding other university operations and campus closures, as well as Family Weekend activities, will be made by Tuesday evening. A determination regarding the resumption of classes will be announced at a later date. Information on student services during the hurricane will be announced Tuesday evening. Additional university guidance regarding safety and sheltering will be forthcoming. UF/IFAS personnel outside Gainesville should adhere to their county government guidelines on closing. Hurricane Ian – UF Update 5 – 9/26/2022

University of Florida officials are actively monitoring Hurricane Ian. While much remains unknown about the storm’s exact path, here is what we know today: During the 5 p.m., advisory, the National Hurricane Center issued hurricane and storm surge warnings for Pinellas County and coastal Hillsborough, Manatee, and Sarasota counties. A hurricane warning means the National Hurricane Center believes hurricane-force winds are possible in those areas within the next 36 hours. University of Florida officials are actively monitoring Hurricane Ian. While much remains unknown about the storm’s exact path, here is what we know today: In the 5 a.m. advisory, the National Hurricane Center issued a hurricane watch for Hillsborough, Manatee, Sarasota and Pinellas counties, in addition to a storm surge watch for Pinellas County and the coastal areas of Hillsborough and Manatee counties. University of Florida officials are actively monitoring Tropical Storm Ian. While much remains unknown about the storm’s path, here is what we know today: Central and North Florida remain in the forecast cone, and the Florida Panhandle was added on Sunday as well. However, most of the southern end of the Florida peninsula is no longer in the storm’s probable path. Tropical Depression Nine – UPDATE #1 – 9/23/2022

University of Florida officials are actively monitoring Tropical Depression Nine. While much remains unknown about the projected storm’s path, here’s what we know today: South and Central Florida were added to the forecast cone as of Friday. This means that while the projected storm’s exact trajectory remains uncertain, the National Hurricane Center predicts some portions of the Florida peninsula could be affected within four to five days. Tropical Storm Alex – Update #4 – 6/5/2022

University of Florida officials are actively monitoring Tropical Storm Alex. Here’s what we know today: The National Hurricane Center has discontinued all warnings and watches for the Florida peninsula, after the disturbance previously known as Potential Tropical Cyclone One made its way across the state on Saturday. Here’s what we know today: A tropical storm warning remains in effect for parts of Central and South Florida, as the disturbance is expected to move across the state on Saturday. Here’s what we know today: The National Hurricane Center has issued a tropical storm warning for parts of Central and South Florida.
