What about scheduled exams and assignments?

Classes and all academic and student-related activities, including online classes, at the University of Florida campus in Gainesville are canceled on Thursday, Nov. 10. Questions related to scheduled academic events (classes, assignments, quizzes, exams) should be directed to the course instructor.

The university expects to resume holiday campus operations on Friday, Nov. 11.

Are events on campus canceled?

All events, including Gators athletics events, at the University of Florida campus in Gainesville will resume when the campus returns to normal operating status on Friday, Nov. 11. However, the university will remain closed for business and classes on Friday in honor of Veterans Day.

Is food being provided to on-campus students?

Select Florida Fresh Dining halls will be open for service throughout the storm. Even if the campus loses power, the university plans to keep the dining halls open. For a list of open locations and hours of operation, visit https://dineoncampus.com/UF/hurricane-hours.

Are residence halls open?

Housing and Residence Life facilities will remain open to current residents during the storm.

Are mental health services available?

Students experiencing a crisis can contact the UF Counseling and Wellness Center at 352-392-1575 for afterhours crisis support. Students can also connect with national crisis resources by dialing 988 or 1-800-273-TALK (8255).

Weekend or evening crisis counseling assistance is also available at the Alachua County Crisis Center at 352-264-6789.

What happens if the residence halls lose power?

Residence halls are equipped with emergency generators to keep critical life safety systems (emergency lighting and fire alarms) fully operational during a power outage.

Will students be placed in shelters?

Given the storm’s projected impact, the university does not expect to open a shelter on campus as of this message.

What if I’m considered essential personnel or work outside of Gainesville?

Essential employees should check with their supervisors regarding scheduling. UF Health and UF/IFAS personnel and others at locations throughout the state should follow their local government’s guidance and check with their supervisors for information regarding the operations plan of their work locations.
