University statement regarding operations during Hurricane Ian
Classes and all academic and student-related activities, including online classes, at the University of Florida campus in Gainesville will be canceled Wednesday, Sept. 28 through Friday, Sept. 30. An announcement regarding other university operations and campus closures, as well as Family Weekend activities, will be made by Tuesday evening. A determination regarding the resumption of classes will be announced at a later date. Information on student services during the hurricane will be announced Tuesday evening. Hurricane Ian – UF Update 5 – 9/26/2022
University of Florida officials are actively monitoring Hurricane Ian. While much remains unknown about the storm’s exact path, here is what we know today: During the 5 p.m., advisory, the National Hurricane Center issued hurricane and storm surge warnings for Pinellas County and coastal Hillsborough, Manatee, and Sarasota counties. A hurricane warning means the National Hurricane Center believes hurricane-force winds are possible in those areas within the next 36 hours. University of Florida officials are actively monitoring Hurricane Ian. While much remains unknown about the storm’s exact path, here is what we know today: In the 5 a.m. advisory, the National Hurricane Center issued a hurricane watch for Hillsborough, Manatee, Sarasota and Pinellas counties, in addition to a storm surge watch for Pinellas County and the coastal areas of Hillsborough and Manatee counties.
