University of Florida officials are actively monitoring Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine due to UF units being in the five-day forecast cone. UF to resume classes and normal operations Tuesday

The University of Florida will return to normal operating status effective at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6. Classes and all academic and student-related activities, including online classes, will resume as well. P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School also will resume its normal schedules on Tuesday. While UF Health hospitals and clinics largely remained open, personnel at locations that closed should check with their immediate supervisors to confirm reopening schedules. Employees at UF/IFAS locations throughout the state should follow local guidance and check with their supervisors for information regarding reopening of their work locations. HURRICANE DEBBY – UPDATE #4 – 8/5/2024

University of Florida officials are actively monitoring Hurricane Debby, which was upgraded overnight to a Category 1 hurricane from a tropical storm, according to the 5 a.m. National Hurricane Center advisory. While much remains unknown about the storm’s path, here’s what we know: Hurricane Debby made landfall along the Florida Big Bend coast early Monday and will slowly move inland across the Suwannee River Valley of inland Northeast Florida through the day on Monday. UF Gainesville campus closed, classes canceled Monday

Due to Tropical Storm Debby, which is forecasted to make landfall as a Category 1 hurricane, the University of Florida’s campus in Gainesville will be closed and classes are canceled for Monday, Aug. 5, including all academic and student-related activities, online classes and exams. The university expects to make an announcement tomorrow on its plans to resume classes and normal campus operations. Only essential university personnel should report for work on Monday, Aug. 5, and other personnel should not come to campus.
