University of Florida officials are actively monitoring Tropical Storm Bertha. Here is what we know today:

Tropical Storm Bertha is forecast to remain south of the Florida coast as it moves generally westward. Tropical storm warnings are in effect for the coastal areas Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton and Bay counties. No inland warnings are currently in place.

The effects will be felt from now through late Thursday morning in Northwest Florida. Forecasters said the Gulf Coast should expect gusty winds, possible storm surge and potential flash flooding.

As of Tuesday, no operational changes were anticipated for the UF campus in Gainesville. However, the UF interests in the Panhandle should closely monitor forecasts and be prepared to follow guidance from local officials.
