Hurricane Zeta – Update #4 – 10/28/2020

University of Florida officials are continuing to monitor Hurricane Zeta. Here’s what we know today: A life-threatening storm is expected along portions of the northern Gulf Coast beginning later today. The National Hurricane Center projects Zeta will make a landfall this afternoon and a second landfall this evening in Mississippi before moving rapidly over southeastern Mississippi, Alabama and northern Georgia overnight. Hurricane Zeta’s greatest threat to Florida remains in the Panhandle. Tropical storm warnings have been issued for Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton and Holmes counties. Tropical Storm Zeta – Update #3 – 10/27/2020

University of Florida officials are continuing to monitor Tropical Storm Zeta. Here’s what we know today: Heavy rainfall is expected across Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, the Cayman Islands, and western Cuba, which could lead in to flash flood in urban areas.  Zeta is expected to strengthen back into hurricane today. The National Hurricane Center projects a landfall Wednesday evening as a Category 1 hurricane on the coasts of southeast Louisiana and Mississippi. Tropical Storm Zeta – Update #2 – 10/26/2020

University of Florida officials are continuing to monitor Tropical Storm Zeta. Here’s what we know today: Hurricane conditions and dangerous storm surge are expected in portions of the northern Yucatan Peninsula tonight and early tomorrow. Tropical storm conditions could occur over extreme western Cuba. Flood watches continue through the evening in South Florida for Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach counties. University of Florida officials are actively Tropical Storm Zeta, and much remains unknown about its path. Here’s what we know today:  Tropical storm conditions are expected in portions of the northern Yucatan Peninsula on Monday night and early Tuesday with possible hurricane conditions.  Heavy rainfall is expected on Wednesday across portions of central and western Cuba, the Cayman Islands, Jamaica, the northeast Yucatan Peninsula, southeastern Florida and the Keys. University of Florida officials are continuing to monitor Hurricane Delta. Here’s what we know today: Hurricane Delta has strengthened rapidly over the last 24 hours and is now a Category 4 storm with maximum sustained winds near 130 mph. The storm will move over the Yucatan Peninsula early Wednesday.
